At anchor, The Lagoon, Saint Martin
There were carts everywhere. While my mom and I were in the Grande
Marche grocery store in St. Maarten, the crew of the mega-yacht Apogee was doing their shopping. It was crazy. There were carts and carts of
food. They had one cart just for wine. There must have been at least 40
bottles! They also had about 20 stacks of ham and other meat, as well
as two carts full of just candy!
Apogee is a 205 foot motor-yacht belonging to Darwin Deason. It was recently docked at the Port du Plaisance Marina, and we dinghied past it every time we went to shore on the Dutch side. It has 12,000 square feet of living space, which includes a glassed-in gym and a 12-person jacuzzi on the top deck. On it are 17 crew as well as two security guards at all times. Apogee can be chartered for $400,000 per week, not counting costs such as food and fuel.
